New Wide Premium Player - the Kyte player gets better and better

Posted by: Cody Smith    Under: Product | Tips |

The Kyte player has many versatile embed functions that can be used in multiple web environments. Just when you thought the Kyte player couldn't be any cooler, we have done it again! With our recent R5 release we have now included the Wide Premium Player to our selection of Kyte Player options.

This version of our player exposes the chatroom to the right of the show window giving the viewer a full interactive chat experience while simultaneously being able to watch any show that has been or is being produced. This player also features our new taller banner heading giving the owner more design area to customize their player and also allows for customizable hyper links.

Example Use Case:

  • This is a perfect solution for custom Myspace page designs, put the Wide Premium Player as the top heading of your Myspace page and give your viewers a branded interactive experience to chat and watch your shows! This is a great way to keep your viewers engaged on your Myspace page, and gaurentee return visits.

There are two variables that must be added to your embed code to enable a Wide Premium Player, one telling your player to be "Wide" and the other "Premium".

  • &layoutMode=wide (this is the variable telling the player to be wide)
  • &premium=true (this is the variable telling the player to be premium)

Here is an example embed code written in JavaScript, highlighted are your new variables for your Wide Premium Player.

  • <script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.kyte.tv/js/kyte.js"></script><script type="text/javascript">window.kyteplayer=new Kyte.Player("channels/45725","
    embedId=16542991&layoutMode=wide&premium=true")</script>

Check out the example below of how it all looks!

LA’s POWER 106 says, “Clap it up for Kyte!”

Posted by: Tesa Lau    Under: Customers |

If you know anything about Power 106 – you know they have a strong presence in Southern California.  They are consistently #1 in the 18-34 demo, and broadcast to over 1.5 million each week...even far beyond the SoCal market.

Power 106 produces great content – celebrity-driven or just plain crazy – and now you can watch the adventures of the Power personalities through their Kyte player!  (They call it POWER TV)

New to the Kyte world, their executive team requested a “training” for their personalities, DJs, mixers, and other staff.  Few of the 25 that gathered had ever heard of Kyte – but by the end of the conversation, they were amazed at the features and speed of Kyte’s technology...and couldn’t stop churning the ideas of how to use it.

Stay tuned for more on POWER TV:  Closely tied to the top artists in music and entertainment – they plan on using Kyte for their in-studio interviews, celebrity-driven events, on-the-street moments, and much more.  (And yes, we are talking about POWERHOUSE!)

They “clap it up” during their meetings when they are happy with their guests.  Watch below as the Power 106 crew “clap it up” for Kyte!

Beta launch of our first project with Telefonica O2

Posted by: Gannon Hall    Under: Customers |

This week O2 launched the beta of their Kyte-powered social network O’chutney. This is our first of many projects with Telefonica, a strategic investor in Kyte and one of the world’s largest integrated telecommunications companies.

O’chutney (which translates to something along the lines of “taste it"), is targeted to O2 Czech users, but open to anyone.  The site is built around the core capabilities of the Kyte Platform - online and mobile video and picture sharing, chatting and community building. Each member has a Kyte channel and when they create a community, a dedicated community channel is created as well. The deep integration of the Kyte platform was achieved through extensive use of our Platform API.

Expanded capabilities around mobile are planned for the official launch in late summer / early fall. Future plans also involve some exciting stuff around IPTV. Stay tuned for more.

KROQ - Weenies Roasting, People Toasting

Posted by: Tesa Lau    Under: Customers |

KROQ FM (CBS RADIO LA) - May 17.  On a hot summer day in Southern California – over 15,000 fans gathered for KROQ’s annual Weenie Roast, a multi-artist alternative rock concert that featured Metallica, The Offspring, The Raconteurs, Rise Against, and many more.

A genius idea, KROQ incorporated Kyte’s technology into their JumboTron and an Interactive Tent to encourage attendees to capture and upload the best Weenie Roast moments to their KROQ CAM.

Using their mobile phones, fans emailed in their photos and videos throughout the day to KROQ’s Kyte player – and in just hours, they generated hundreds of shows, and tens of thousands of views.

Congrats, KROQ, on a job well done!  We were thrilled that you were happy with the results.

It was the first-ever of its kind, and other radio networks have picked up the wind...so concert fans, don’t expect this to be the last!  (Yes, we welcome you to encourage your favorite radio station to do the same.)

To see a KROQ employee walk us through the process by the Interactive Tent, watch below:
