Kyte @ SXSW 2010

Posted by: Gannon Hall    Under: Product | Events | Mobile |

If you're at SXSW Interactive you may run into me and Maks, who'll be out and about demoing Kyte LivePro Unwired, the newest addition to the Kyte Platform which enables broadcast-quality live streaming via 3G (and future 4G) wireless technology. Live streams are automatically archived for on-demand viewing, so if you miss an actual live stream, you can always watch the on-demand videos after the fact.

We put up a page where we'll be broadcasting, so check it out to catch the live (and on-demand) SXSW action. Let's just hope the 3G coverage is better than last year. Good news is that Kyte LivePro Unwired bonds several 3G cards from multiple carriers, so even if a particular carrier is experiencing difficulty (you know who you are), the others should compensate.

Kyte First Online Video Platform to Deliver Wireless High Quality Live Streaming

Posted by: Gannon Hall    Under: Product | Mobile | Media Coverage |

Earlier this week, Daniel visited Erick Schonfeld at TechCrunch to show off our new toy, Kyte LivePro Unwired, which enables high quality wireless live streaming via the Kyte Platform.  Check out the video below and Erick's post on TC.

In conjunction with the launch, SPIN Magazine will be using the technology to bring music fans behind the scenes live coverage from SXSW.

Kyte LivePro Unwired, which uses wireless backpack technology provided by LiveU, will allow SPIN to deliver high-quality live video from places where deploying traditional broadcast technologies would be impossible or too costly. All that is needed for Kyte LivePro Unwired is the battery-operated backpack unit and any camera that supports IEEE 1394 (Firewire) output.

We’re super excited about this product, and we can’t wait for you to see it in action!  Check back here to see SPIN’s live coverage during the show.

Kyte LivePro Unwired extends our professional live streaming capabilities first introduced with Kyte LivePro. Check out our Kyte LivePro Overview to learn more about both products.

Kyte Powers Online Video for Homeaway.com’s Super Bowl Campaign

Posted by: Gannon Hall    Under: Customers |

There's been a lot of Monday morning chatter about the online and social components of yesterday's various Super Bowl broadcast ads. We're of course very pleased that Homeway.com's "National Lampoon's Vacation" inspired campaign is coming out as a crowd and industry favorite.

The 360 degree campaign was developed and produced by Homeaway and their agency of record, Publicis in the West. Homeaway and Publicis chose Kyte to power the interactive social video components of the campaign's Hotel Hell Vacation-branded microsite, including the following:

Exclusive Video Content

The microsite features exclusive high quality webisodes, including the mock movie trailer commercial, full Hotel Hell Vacation film, and select scenes from the original "National Lampoon's Vacation."

Users can comment, rate and share the webisodes to Facebook and Twitter using Kyte's integrated social and interactive capabilities.

User-Generated Content Contest

Using Kyte's moderated UGC capabilities, Homeaway.com allows consumers to share their stories of hotel horrors in the form of a text, photo or video entry for the chance to win one of four $10,000 family vacations at a HomeAway vacation rental.

Participants may enter any of four themed categories, including "Outrageous Hotel Bills," "Cramped Hotel Quarters," "Wish I Had a Kitchen," and "Other Hotel Woes".  The public will be invited to vote between March 2-9 for the best stories, and winners will be announced in mid-March.
