The soul is back.

Following a two-year hiatus, the legendary Soul Train Music Awards returned to television Sunday, November 29, airing on BET and the new Centric TV Network.

Recorded November 3 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, the Soul Train Awards featured a slew of performances by popular R&B, hip-hop, soul and jazz artists including Toni Braxton, Keri Hilson (who also uses Kyte and was named Best New Artist at the event), Robin Thicke, Ludacris, Erykah Badu and Chaka Khan.

The Kyte Platform played an integral role in the re-launch of the brand online. A Kyte Tall Player was integrated on the site to showcase professional video content, consisting primarily of in-person interviews backstage before and during the event with presenters and artists like Bootsy Collins, Trey Songz, Mario and more.

A vertical Kyte Show Browser in the Kyte Tall Player allowed viewers to conveniently select the shows they want to watch. Kyte interactive engagement features like Get & Share enabled visitors to share content across the social web and real-time chat allowed them to interact with each other during the event.

Soul Train, created and hosted by Don Cornelius, was a syndicated, music-related television program on the air for 35 years (from 1971 to 2006) emphasizing the latest R&B, soul, hip-hop, jazz and gospel songs throughout its history. The Soul Train Music Awards were launched in 1987.
