Codec and Streaming Video Engineer
Summary
We are looking for a Codec and Streaming Video Engineer with a deep understanding of video codecs and transport methods, with a focus on web-based video, codecs optimized for embedded devices, and familiar with open source transcoding applications such as ffmpeg.
This position is full-time and you will be working out of our office overlooking Union Square in San Francisco, close to MUNI and BART.
Experience
- Experience programming for embedded devices
- Experience setting up and maintaining RTSP servers
- Hands on experience with live broadcasting to and from embedded devices
- Knowledge of build systems such as Ant
- Familiarity with Perforce
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience writing, optimizing, and debugging C/C++
- 5+ years of in-depth experience working with video codec and streaming technology
- Thorough understanding of H.263, MPEG4, H.264, and Sorenson Spark codecs
- Knowledge of audio codecs, including AAC, AMR, MP3, and MPEG4 audio
- Understanding of media container formats, particularly FLV, MP4, MPG, and 3gp
- Knowledge of RTMP and RTSP protocols
- Working knowledge of ffmpeg internals, including the ability to add support for new formats
- Ability to write clean, coherent code
- Ability to understand and master new technologies quickly
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Willingness to learn and to teach
