Senior Systems Engineer and Administrator

Summary

We are seeking a senior systems engineer and administrator with a focus on Linux.

Reporting to our head of IT Operations, you will be responsible for general system engineering and administration of Kyte’s product and corporate infrastructure.

Funded by world leaders in mobile and convergent communications including Nokia, NTT DoCoMo and Telefonica, to name just a few— this is a rare opportunity to get involved at an early stage and help shape the future of social communications.

The position is full-time and you’ll be working out of our offices overlooking Union Square in San Francisco.
 

Experience

  • Some Java and C++ (in-depth programming experience not required.)
  • Flash Media Server
  • Cloud computing (in particular, EC2 and S3)
  • FFMPEG
  • Oracle

Requirements

  • 5+ years of in-depth Linux experience (RedHat/CentOS preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience with java app servers (Tomcat preferred) and Apache
  • Public website design and administration in a 24x7 environment
  • 3+ years of Bash, Perl, PHP
  • 2+ years of experience with build and deployment environments
  • DNS, LDAP, DHCP
  • SSH (and general security)
  • MySQL
  • Perforce source control administration (or similar)
  • Experience supporting highly scalable enterprise systems
  • Ability to write clean, coherent documentation
  • Ability to understand and master new technologies quickly
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Willingness to learn and to teach
