Robert Scoble, largely popularized by his regular and informative posts to his blog, Scobleizer, and video podcasting through PodTech, attained cult status among tech geeks and industry types who have followed his postings religiously since he started in 2002 as a Microsoft employee. Known for reporting on the happenings within Microsoft and providing commentary on emerging technologies including video, mobile, SaaS and social networking, Scoble amassed a readership in the thousands. Robert was early to aggregate blog posts through RSS, and was frequently quoted in the tech and business press.

Like many well-known bloggers, Scoble is a skilled conversation starter, but increasingly found that banding together video, text, audio and syndication was fast becoming necessary to reach a wider audience. Scoble was first introduced to Kyte after a chance meeting with co-founder and CEO Daniel Graf who demonstrated the technology through a Nokia N95 when the company was in pre-beta.

Scoble became an instant fan and Kyte evangelist when he witnessed how instantly and widespread his content reached across RSS feeds, social network profiles and social bookmark sites such as Digg. He had been looking for new ways to reach his often fickle and up-to-the-minute tech savvy audience and found it in Kyte’s technology.

In today’s rapidly changing and participatory global media environment where interactive journalism is increasingly competitive and redefining mainstream media, it’s more import than ever for bloggers to stay current with their technology broadcasting choices and expand their reach and user engagement.

The Solution

Armed with a Nokia N-95 multimedia phone and The Scobleizer Kyte channel (sponsored by Seagate) Scoble is able to simulcast breaking news and exclusive behind-the-scenes content from home or the far corners of the globe.

Thousands of viewers tune in daily to view and interact with Scoble’s channel from a multitude of tech media and other blog-run destinations where his Kyte channel is embedded. Viewers interact with Scoble and each other using Kyte’s advanced multimedia chat feature, and receive Kytefeed notifications online and on their phones for his most current posts.

The Scobleizer Kyte Channel has been embedded in over 6,600 websites, reaching up to 700k viewers at a time (see Davos Show), and continues to spread virally across the web. Each time Scoble produces a new show it’s immediately broadcast to all the sites where the channel has been embedded. For Scoble, his multimedia experience has elevated his reach and allows him to interact with far more people on a daily basis.
