Kyte.tv named Red Herring Winner
Kyte.tv is recognized by Red Herring as one of the 100 Most Promising Companies Driving the Future of Technology
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – May 3, 2007: Red Herring today announced that decentral.tv, the creator of kyte a leading online and mobile service for creating live and interactive TV channels, is a recipient of the Red Herring 100. The Red Herring 100 award is given each year to the top 100 private technology companies based in North America. kyte.tv enables users to easily create interactive TV shows that are instantly broadcast to multiple destinations. These personally-branded channels can be placed on any website, blog, social network, and mobile phone, allowing users to connect and socialize in real-time through features such as chatting and voting. kyte joins companies such as Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) and eBay, who were spotted in their early days by Red Herring editors, as companies that would change the way we live and work.
Red Herring's editorial staff rigorously evaluated more than 800 private companies through a careful analysis of financial data and subjective criteria, including quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to research and development.
“We are honored to be among this year's list of winners,” said Daniel Graf, co-founder and CEO of kyte.tv. “We view this award as further endorsement of kyte.tv's vision of reinventing TV for a generation who spends more time in front of their computer or on their mobile phone than they do watching traditional TV. kyte is TV that's created by the audience for their audiences, with unique collaborative and social features. User-generated photos, video, and content are already shaping social expression – kyte takes it to the next level by allowing people to share their life experiences and their creativity in a highly social and interactive way.”
“Having received more than 800 submissions, it is clear that we are witnessing a new outburst of creativity,” says Joel Dreyfuss, Editor-in-Chief of Red Herring. “It's exciting to see technology innovators create disruptive technologies. The Red Herring 100 North America companies are impressive up-and-comers, and definitely the ones to watch.”
Red Herring's annual lists of top private companies are an important part of the company's tradition of identifying new and innovative technology companies and entrepreneurs. To honor the winning companies of the Red Herring 100, Red Herring invited each CEO to present their innovative ideas and technologies to an audience of leading entrepreneurs, financiers and corporate strategists at this year's Red Herring 100 Spring event, May 1-3 in Monterey, California at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Red Herring 100 Awards.
